The Automotive Engineering Center (AEC – CEA, in Portuguese) is an initiative of the Escola Politécnica (Engineering School) of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP), with strong participation of its Mechanical Engineering Department. It was established in 2003 by Prof. Dr. Ronaldo de Breyne Salvagni.
The AEC goal is to contribute to the development of the Brazilian automotive sector and to increase its participation in the global context. The team works towards building capacity for students, professors and engineers in companies of the sector, besides applying and developing new technologies and processes in the mobility engineering area. It is also a neutral forum for discussing issues in the automotive sector both in Brazil and in the world.
The AEC professors are an integral part in the board and committees of different entities/institutions connected to the automotive sector in Brazil and in other countries. Among these participations, the following can be detached:
- AEA Board – Brazilian Association of Automotive Engineering;
- CIRST (Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie) Quebec, Canada;
- SAE Brasil Technical Committee – Society of Automotive Engineers Brasil;
- Technology Council of Abendi – Brazilian Association of Non-Destructive Tests and Inspection;
